KNE hosts the British Kart Championships
The Wera Tools British Kart Championships are the pinnacle of kart racing in the UK and on the 22nd-24th July 2022 Karting North East played host to this prestigious event.
Some of world motorsport’s most famous drivers have British Kart Championship titles on their CVs, including Anthony Davidson, Paul di Resta, and George Russell, to name but a few.
The event was held over three days with karting’s two most supported classes Rotax & Honda in attendance with TV crews live streaming the finals on Sunday (See below for a link to the coverage)
Drivers from 8 years old competed in Honda 160 Cadet and Micro Max, whilst older drivers were spread across Mini Max, Junior Max and Senior Max providing thrilling racing all weekend!
The action packed weekend saw over 170 drivers compete on the same 1200m circuit we use daily for our hire karts, all aiming for the ultimate goal of an F1 seat in the future.
A capacity paddock was filled with teams and privateers alike showing the professionalism and organisation that would put many BTCC and GT teams to shame.
Working alongside the Motorsport UK officials our usual KNE crew worked tirelessly to marshal the track, man the paddock and oversee parking. We can also not forget to mention the reception and café team who cooked, baked and served non stop for three days to ensure all the competitors and entourage were fed and watered!
The Wera Tools British Kart Championships now move on to the next round and we are Open again for Family Sessions, Timed Sessions, Grand Prixs and Endurances.
